BRINIA KATERINA MD MSc

Brinia Katerina MD, MSc, a specialist allergist - allergy expert for children and adults, operates a medical office in Patra, at the lower part of Georgiou Square.

She is a graduate of the Medical School of the University of Patras, holder of two postgraduate degrees (in Public Health by the National School of Public Health and in Administration of Health Units by the Hellenic Open University) and of a doctoral scholarship by the University of Athens.

She performed her specialty training at the Allergy Department of “Laiko” General Hospital of Athens, at the Allergy Department of “Aglaia Kyriakou” Hospital, at the Department of Immunology of “Aghia Sofia” Children’s Hospital, at “Syggros” Hospital and at the Pulmonology Department of “Evaggelismos” General Hospital of Athens.

After receiving her specialty title in Greece, she received, after successfully passing the respective exams in Denmark, the Diploma of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.

She is a member of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) and of the European Respiratory Society (ERS), with scientific announcements in international and Greek congresses.

It is a fact that the increase in the incidence of allergic diseases has been rapid in recent years. At the modern allergy medical office of the doctor are provided services that are based on the continuous updating of medical knowledge, with respect to patients as our priority and having as goal the improvement the quality of their lives.

More particularly, the doctor is specialized in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of all allergic diseases, such as allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, asthma, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, urticaria, angioedema and anaphylaxis.

Furthermore, she treats food allergies (e.g. allergy to milk, egg, wheat, nuts, fish, seafood, fruits, etc.), allergies to hymenoptera (bees, wasps), drug allergies (to antibiotics, painkillers, etc.), as well as allergies to chemotherapeutic drugs.

She also investigates blood eosinophilia, eosinophilic esophagitis, eosinophilic gastroenteritis and eosinophilic colitis, as well as mastocytosis.

At the medical office are performed all the necessary allergy tests for the diagnosis of allergy (prick, intradermal and patch tests), and are effectively treated, with modern therapies and biological agents, allergies of the respiratory system (allergic rhinitis - conjunctivitis, allergic asthma), as well as allergic skin diseases (atopic eczema in children, urticaria in adults).

At the same time, special immunotherapy is performed, both for allergic rhinitis and asthma, and for allergy to insect bites (bee - wasp).
