ISTODIEREVNITIKI AE

The pathology laboratory medical diagnostic centre ISTODIEREVNITIKI AE which is based at the center of Thessaloniki, is the successor of the private laboratory of the pathologist Dr. Kostas Eleftheriadis, which was founded in 1963.

Today, it is staffed by pathologists, biologists and technologists, with more than 25 years of professional experience; the head of the laboratory is the professor of pathology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thomas Zaraboukas.

At the laboratory are performed tests in tissue and cell material that comes from surgical specimens and biopsies. The laboratory collaborates with private hospitals and clinics and private physicians. For the study and diagnosis of the patients’ samples, the instructions and protocols of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) are applied.

For the specialized techniques of immunohistochemistry, the laboratory is subject to external quality control by UK NEQAS, that is, the same body that controls the laboratories of the National Health Service of Great Britain.

The laboratory is the first in Greece which is accredited by the Hellenic National Accreditation System, according to the ISO 15189:12 standard for pathological tests.

At the laboratory, a 10-year record is kept, which is available for every re-examination or application of drug compatibility control techniques.

The conclusions of the tests are ready within 24-48 hours, if an additional special study is not required.
