KOTZAMANI DIMITRA

The neurologist Kotzamani Dimitra, in Heraklion, is a graduate with honors of the Medical School of the University of Crete. She has obtained a Post-Graduate Specialization Degree (Master) in Neuroscience from the Department of Neuroscience of the Medical School.

In 2017 she was named Medical Doctor with honors, taking an oath at the same Department, having completed her thesis on mechanisms of mitochondrial function and dysfunction that are related with neurodegenerative diseases.

Furthermore, she works on the epidemiology of multiple sclerosis on the island of Crete and the factors that are related with the increase of the incidence of the disease on the island.

Since 2011, she has a private practice at the center of Heraklion, having as object general neurology and with special concern to the treatment of patients with Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis.

At the same time, doctor Kotzamani is specialized in the treatment of patients with migraine, Alzheimer disease, epilepsy, vertigo, strokes and essential tremor. She focuses in her work on the patient and the personalization of the treatment, depending on the special needs of each patient.

Moreover, the practice of doctor Kotzamani is equipped with a modern electroencephalograph (EEG) unit, for the examination and treatment of patients with epilepsy, fainting episodes and memory disorders.

Doctor Kotzamani is an author in international neurological science journals, as well as in journals that deal with molecular biology and neurochemistry. Moreover, she is a speaker in neurology conferences and medical events.

She is married with the medical doctor Hatzakis Nikolaos, Otorhinolaryngologist at the University General Hospital of Heraklion, with whom she cooperates for the better management of patients with vertigo and balance disorders.

The doctor receives patients daily on appointment and her practice has an easy access for people with disabilities; the doctor is certified for electronic prescription to patients of EOPYY (the Hellenic National Organization for the Provision of Health Services).
