GALANIS MARIOS - TOURLOUPI MARIA - RION VETS

The small animal clinic (veterinary vlinic) GALANIS MARIOS - TOURLOUPI MARIA - RION VETS, which is staffed by the veterinarians Galanis Marios and Tourloupi Maria, is located in Rio (Agios Georgios Rio).

Galanis Marios: Graduated in 1997 from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He worked in veterinary clinics and offices in Athens and, in 2000, founded, together with his wife Maria, their clinic in Rio. He principally deals with pathology and surgery.

Maria Tourloupi: Graduated in 2000 from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She principally deals with ultrasounds, in which she is extensively engaged with continuous training and seminars.

As in humans, it is also necessary that preventive tests and examinations are performed to animals, so that diseases are prevented, since can be treated more easily and effectively as soon as they occur. Often the symptoms of a disease in our dog and cat may go unnoticed. The time of occurrence of diseases and the pace of their progression are often faster, compared to humans. Vaccines are a basic protection parameter. Thanks to vaccines, many infectious diseases occur more and more rarely. Unfortunately, many pet owners neglect or ignore the value of vaccines.

Today, diseases forgotten in time occur once again (e.g. rabies, leptospirosis), therefore the need of vaccines is quite urgent. Even old animals need vaccines, in modified forms, as their weakened body is more vulnerable to infections.

The preventive screening of our dogs and cats, includes examinations and tests, depending on their age, the way they live, the epidemiology of a region, the predisposition of their breed, as well as other factors.

It usually includes: complete blood count (in order to find out the values of their hematocrit, leucocytes, platelets), biochemical tests (for the examination of the functioning of their liver, kidneys, endocrine glands). The screening also includes specific hormone tests (e.g. Τ4, TSH), urinalysis and, finally, serological tests in order to check for infectious diseases, such as leishmaniasis, ehrlichiosis, FIV, FeLV, etc.
