PARASKEVOPOULOS IOANNIS

Paraskevopoulos Ioannis is an allergist (allergy expert) who is based in Kifisia, and more particularly, is an allergy specialist for children - adults, military doctor, Allergy Department Director at the 401 General Military Hospital of Athens, and member of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI). He was trained at Royal Brompton Hospital, Imperial College, Heart and Lung Institute, London, England and is a member of Immunotherapy Interest group of European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.

Allergic disorders present a significant increase in recent years. In Greece, more than 600,000 people suffer from allergic bronchial asthma, while the incidence of allergic disorders of the respiratory tract has increased five times in the last 25 years. In general, the cases of allergy have increased by 50% and can occur at any age. This increase, among other causes, is possible due to the modern way of living, the increase of the atmospheric pollution and smoking, the change of dietary habits, reduced physical activities, obesity and, finally, the overuse of antibiotics.

The treatment approach for allergy is triple: proper diagnosis by finding the allergen that is responsible for the condition and by avoiding it, if it is possible, the appropriate medication and desensitization treatment, when it is required. The early diagnosis and treatment offers a possible cure, and improves the life quality of people that suffer from allergies in our days.
