The Athinaiko Pnevmonologiko Institouto in Athens, which is directed by the pulmonologist Dr. Kosmas, operates since May 2018 & is located on the 5th floor, on Kifissias Avenue.

The Athens Institute of Pulmonology has as goal the prevention, as well as the effective diagnostic & therapeutic approach of acute & chronic diseases of the respiratory tract.

Focusing on patients and armed with our medical knowledge, our accumulated many years of experience in major public, university & private hospitals in Greece and abroad, our expertise & advanced medical equipment, as well as our warm communication and behavior, we give emphasis to prevention, diagnosis & treatment of the people that trust us with their most valuable asset, their health.

The Athens Institute of Pulmonology operates focusing on the prevention (smoking cessation, check-up of the respiratory tract), the diagnosis, monitoring & treatment of acute and chronic diseases of the respiratory tract, such as bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary fibrosis & other interstitial lung diseases, obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, infections/pneumonia, bronchial/lung neoplasms, pleurisy, pulmonary vascular diseases, etc. The technological equipment of the Institute allows the performance of specialized laboratory tests on-the-spot.

Thanks to the capacities of the laboratory, an accurate diagnostic approach is achieved as well as the more complete monitoring of adults & children with acute and chronic diseases of the respiratory tract.

Additionally, there is the opportunity of hospitalization, bronchoscopy (diagnostic, therapeutic, use of endobronchial ultrasound EBUS) & other invasive diagnostic tests, of CT & MRI scanning, scintigraphy, PET/CT scanning, ergospirometry & full polysomnography - sleep study at the Metropolitan Hospital.

Finally, there is the possibility of visits at home & EOPYY (National Health Services Organization) e-prescription is performed (for drugs, oxygen concentrator, nebulizer, CPAP machines, etc.) & EOPYY e-referrals are also issued.

The medical staff consists of Dr. Epameinondas Kosmas (pulmonologist, doctor of the University of Athens, who received post-graduate training at McGill University, Canada and Duke University, USA, director of the Pulmonology Clinic of Metropolitan Hospital, former director of the Pulmonology Clinic & Center of Pulmonary Rehabilitation of the “Sotiria” Chest Diseases Hospital of Athens) and Dr. Silvia Dumitru (pulmonologist, doctoral candidate of the University of Athens, specialist in sleep disorders who is certified by the European Sleep Research Society, registrar of the Clinic of Pulmonology & director of the Laboratory of Sleep Breathing Disorders of the Metropolitan Hospital).

Our staff is completed with Konstantina Stamatopoulou (secretary who graduated from the Department of Sociology of the Panteion University of Social & Political Sciences) & Marina Argyri (medical equipment technician who graduated from the Department of Biomedical Technology of the Technological Institution of Athens).

The access is quite easy, either by subway (metro) (200m from the Ampelokipi subway station), or by bus (the Institute is located between the bus stops Ampelokipi & Zerva on both sides of Kifissias Avenue and very close to them, at approximately 100m.) or by car (EASY PARKING 50m. from the doctor's office).
