DIMAS IOANNIS

Dimas Ioannis, MD, MSc, PhD(c) is a gastroenterologist - hepatologist and invasive endoscopist, who is based in Souda, Chania.

He graduated from the Military School of Corps Officers (SSAS) in 2006, as a medical officer of the Navy. He completed his specialty training in gastroenterology - hepatology in 2018, after two years at the Gastroenterology Clinic of the Athens Naval Hospital, under the supervision of Dr. Gerasimos Stefanidis, and two years at the Gastroenterology Clinic of the Venizeleio General Hospital of Heraklion, under the supervision of Dr. Grigoris Paspatis.

He holds a Master’s degree from the Harokopion University of Athens in applied dietetics - nutrition, with a focus on clinical nutrition. At present, he is a PhD candidate at the University of Crete, and his research object regards biliary strictures.

He has to his credit publications in prestigious scientific journals (Endoscopy, Eur. Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology etc.), and abstracts in national congresses (Panhellenic Gastroenterology Congress, EOMIFNE) and international conferences (UEGweek, ESGE Days, DDW, EAS, ECCO). He has participated as a guest speaker in domestic congresses and has been honored three times with the best announcement-presentation award.

He is an active member of the Hellenic Society of Gastroenterology, the Hellenic Association for the Study of the Liver, the Hellenic IFNE Study Group, the Hellenic Foundation of Gastroenterology and Nutrition and the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE).

Since July 2018, he has been appointed as Head of the Department of Endoscopy of the Naval Hospital of Crete, while at the same time he is an associate of the Department of Endoscopy of the Venizeleio General Hospital of Heraklion.
