LEXEIS SKEPSEIS KENTRO EIDIKON THERAPEION

The Center for special therapies LEXEIS SKEPSEIS KENTRO EIDIKON THERAPEION, in Ovria, Patras, configured and adapted to the needs of each child, is run by speech therapist Maria Giannakoulopoulou. The aim of the centre is to diagnose, treat and rehabilitate those with speech disorders, language disorders (oral and written), communication disorders and feeding or swallowing disorders.

Mrs. Maria Giannakoulopoulou was specialised in autism at the University of Patras, and has a wealth of training in well-known therapeutic methods, such as Teacch, Makaton, Simata, Intensive Interaction, Sensory Integration, Music Therapy, SOS approach to feeding, Feeding Therapy, Oral Placement Therapy (OPT) etc.

Our centre works with a child psychologist, providing psychopedagogical support and parent counselling, as well as assessing skills and intelligence with the WISC III psychometric test. We work with an occupational therapist, providing specialized services in paediatric occupational therapy and sensory integration.

Our priority is the needs of each child and their family in relation to communication, verbal and non-verbal, and behaviour. We aim to develop the child’s social skills and psychological health, so at LEXEIS SKEPSEIS CENTER FOR SPECIAL THERAPIES we organise social skills groups and experiential workshops which help the child or adolescent develop their skills.

Finally, our centre organises groups for 5-6 year old children on learning preparation for 1st grade. Each child is assessed individually, with the aim of assessing their learning profile so a specialist educator can help with any learning difficulties.

Our ultimate goal is functional communication at all levels of a person's daily life, contributing to their smooth social and learning development.
