IERA MONI AGIAS PARASKEVIS RODOLIVOUS

At the quiet and picturesque IERA MONI AGIAS PARASKEVIS RODOLIVOUS, a Holy Monastery near the town of Rodolivos, you can find a variety of Church Supplies and items connected with the Orthodox church.

The history of the monastery began before the year 1345 when it was under the Ibera Monastery of Mount Athos. There is a faithful copy of the Holy Icon of Portaitissa in the monastery.

The monastery then became part of the Ikosifonissa diocese, but it was destroyed in 1474. It was rebuilt in 1874, but was burned down in 1917 and 1923.

In 1924, nuns from Pontus settled in the ruined monastery, bringing with them holy relics such as the lower jaw of John the Baptist and two of his ribs, one of St. John the Russian’s fingers, Saint Ignatius of Theophorus’ heart, relics of Saint Charalambous and many other saints, as well as other precious relics.

The monastery also houses relics of Saint Paraskevi, Saint Luke the Evangelist, Saints Raphael, Nicholas and Irene and many other saints.

The nun Mariam (Andreadou) became the abbess of the monastery in 1988 and it underwent significant changes. Today it is a Pan-Hellenic pilgrimage centre and a monastery for Pontians of Eastern Macedonia.

In the holy monastery you can find products such as seals for holy bread, incense & aromatic charcoals with a variety of aromas, iconostasis, candlesticks, encolpion, holy bread vessels and offering boxes, wooden and woven crosses, as well as gold embroidered icons.

The nuns produce various handicrafts and also make preserves and pasta. In addition, they also produce their own honey.

The holy monastery is open daily from 7:30am until sunset every day.
